Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is the official sequel manga to Jujutsu Kaisen. It is written by Gege Akutami and illustrated by Yūji Iwasaki. The series started on September 8, 2025, in Weekly Shōnen Jump.
Publication Details
The manga began in issue 41 of Weekly Shōnen Jump and is planned to run for about six months, which means it will likely have around three volumes. As of January 2026, the first collected volume (tankōbon) was released on January 5, 2026. The chapters are also available digitally through Viz Media and Manga Plus.
The series had a strong debut. It ranked number one on Oricon’s weekly manga chart and sold 190,432 copies in its first week.
Story Setting and Plot
The story takes place in the year 2086, which is 68 years after the events of the Jujutsu Kaisen Culling Game. It follows Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu, who are the grandchildren of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zen’in.
In this future version of Tokyo, jujutsu sorcery has merged with advanced technology. The siblings are investigating a series of child kidnappings. At the same time, an alien race called the Simurians arrives on Earth. These aliens possess powers similar to cursed energy.
The main conflict revolves around rogue curse users who are kidnapping children and using them as “batteries” to generate cursed energy. This creates tension and battles involving both human sorcerers and Simurian soldiers.
Main Characters
-
Yuka Okkotsu: She uses the Ten Shadows Technique and has special attacks like Savage Jaw Strike and Biting Twist.
-
Tsurugi Okkotsu: Unlike most sorcerers, he cannot directly use cursed energy in combat. Instead, he fights using cursed tools such as Honoyagi and the Batto Sword Drawing technique.
-
Maru: A powerful Simurian sorcerer. He uses the Harmony Technique, which allows him to manipulate physics and cursed energy on a large scale. For example, he can create spaceships using special energy reserves called Mul.
Canon and Reception
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo expands the original series’ universe but takes place in a parallel timeline. Gege Akutami confirmed this approach to avoid conflicts with the main story’s ending.
Fans have responded positively, praising its high-quality chapters, creative world-building, and new techniques—especially Maru’s physics-altering abilities.
In short, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo continues the legacy of the original series in a futuristic setting, combining sorcery, technology, and alien powers while introducing a new generation of characters.
